The Datil pepper is said to have been grown first for profit in St. Augustine, one of the oldest permanent European settlements in the US. It is known to be a small, fruity and sweet pepper but an extra- hot kick coming in at between 100,000 to 300,000 Scoville heat units. Comparable in heat to a habanero. Grows to ~3.5” and ripens to a bright orange. 90-110 days from transplant.
