Originally from the mountainous regions of the Mexican states of Puebla and Hidalgo. The name of the pepper is a reference to the mountains of these regions.  Large 2-3′ plants are loaded with hundreds of 2″ long fruits that ripen from green to red.  Very versatile, can be used for salsas, chili sauce, drying, pickling and soups.  75 days from transplant.

Serranos are one of my favorite peppers! The heat level and size make them good for just about everything. I like to use them in place of jalapenos because I prefer the taste. They are good green or red. Plus, it would be hard to find a more productive plant! In our trials, these gave us hundreds of peppers up until frost. They are a somewhat wider, bushier plant than some peppers, so give them a little extra space. They have a nice round growth habit.
