Dr. Wyche’s Yellow

Price range: $4.50 through $117.50

Golden-orange beefsteak fruits with a sweet, rich, and slightly tropical flavor. Known for its meaty texture and low acidity, this tomato is perfect for slicing, fresh eating, or adding vibrant color to salads and sandwiches. Fruits often weigh 1+ pounds and have a smooth, blemish-resistant skin. This variety traces back to Dr. John Wyche of Hugo, Oklahoma, owner of the Carson & Barnes Circus and avid gardener who carefully saved and shared rare seeds with Seed Savers Exchange. Dr Wyche used manure from his circus elephants, tigers and other exotic animals to fertilize and enrich his garden soils.  His namesake tomato remains a favorite among heirloom enthusiasts for its exceptional taste and generous yields. Indeterminate.
