Boston Marrow

Price range: $3.50 through $759.50

Extremely rare. The origins of the variety are a bit unclear; some claim that it was a Native American variety that was gifted to European settlers. Others believe it was originally of Chilean origin. The first written history was when it was introduced to gardeners in 1831 by Mr. J. M. Ives. Excellent eating qualities, thick fleshed and free of fiber. A real custard-like, buttery flavor. Typical fruits weigh 10-20 pounds. Widely adpapted, does well from the far North to Florida to California. Good keeper. 90-100 days.
