Sibley (aka Pike’s Peak)

Price range: $3.50 through $431.25

Introduced by Hiram Sibley and Company in 1887. The original stock was obtained from an elderly woman in Van Dinam, Iowa who had grown the variety for more than 50 years. Unique, slate-blue, teardrop shaped fruits weigh 8-10 pounds. Sweet and flavorful orange flesh. An excellent keeper. The taste peaks after the New Year, so make sure to save a few for those cold January evenings.
