A.P. Whaley Staff –
These grew surprisingly well for us in Southern Wisconsin (Zone 5), considering it’s a long-season hot pepper. We were able to pick ripe (red) peppers three times before frost. Picking the fruits went well (with gloves on), but once you open them and expose the seed – whew! You can tell just from breathing near them that they are hot hot hot! Note that these are TRUE Carolina Reapers, with the characteristic wrinkled skin and the Reaper ‘tail’. The fruits pictured were the ones grown on our farm!
