One of the oldest runner beans still available and first mentioned in 1654 by German botanist Michael Titus. Large 6-7’ vines with vivid scarlet flowers. Grown as an edible ornamental and highly attractive to hummingbirds. Glossy black beans are about 1” long and cook down into a delicious bean mash. Young pods can also be used as a snap (green) bean.
