Tennis Ball (Black Seeded)

$3.00$72.50

Documented as being grown at Monticello by Thomas Jefferson. One of the most popular lettuces in the early 1900s, but now very hard to find the original black-seeded strain that we offer. Small heads measure only 6-8” in diameter and form nice little loose heads that are excellent for spring and summer salads. Traditionally the whole heads were pickled in a salt brine and eaten as a side dish.
